My name is Frea Wilkens and I was born in Amstelveen. I studied art & advertising drawing at the graphic school in Amsterdam in the 1960s. Then in the early 1980s, I lived with my husband Paul in Zevenhoven (South Holland).
After the birth of my son Juhrn, we moved to the north of North Holland in Julianadorp because of Paul's work. Here we lived happily for a total of 21 years. For 4 years I have been living in Breezand which is about 12 kilometers from Julianadorp.
Since we moved to North Holland, I picked up painting again at Elly Doolaard's studio in Anna Paulowna. She made me enthusiastic about painting and taught me her techniques.
A few years ago I switched to abstract painting of which I took lessons from Annet Hoekstra also in the Doolaard Atelier. I started with flower fields and landscapes, but of course, I also do other projects.
Painting gives me great satisfaction when I can interest people and bring my work alive. I make my abstracts out of free thoughts, creating something from which everyone can get their own story and vision.
